Project Relate, Voice Recognition and Synthesis Program for People with Speech Problems
Google is appealing to help build an Android app that will provide people with speech difficulties with more communication options. As the endeavor and app are now known, Project Relate will enable voice transcription and synthesis, making it easier for users to understand one other.
Project Euphonia is a descendant of Project Euphonia. It was first reported in 2019 and subsequently published part of its research. Dimitri Kanevsky, a Google research scientist with limited speech, led the initiative and offered direct knowledge to the AI-based solution.
Key takeaways:
- The simple fact is that speech recognition engines require a large amount of recorded speech to learn how to interpret it correctly. Unfortunately, that data is biased toward typical speech patterns.
- Startups and advances in basic technology are helping people understand accented languages. But collecting and analyzing the highly distinctive speech patterns of people with impairments and disabilities requires extra effort.
- Project Relate is a better voice transcription tool for people who have trouble speaking at its core.
