Video Marketing Statistics You Need to Know in 2020

Here are 2 resources where you can find video marketing statistics for 2020

12 Video Marketing Statistics You Need to Know in 2020

Video marketing will continue to grow in the industry and one should take advantage of upcoming trends if they want to leverage the capabilities of their marketing budget. Expect viewing to be optimized for desktop viewing rather than mobile despite recent changes. The most popular and therefore recommended day to public content is on Thursdays followed by Wednesdays. Most content published for business to business purposes will be in the form of a webinar or visual lecture. When considering channels of distribution for your company one will still rely on their website over other avenues like YouTube or Twitter. Length is key in distribution ideally the shorter the better. Statistics show most successful videos are two minutes or less and more people will watch if the video is shorter than a minute. In terms of seasonality October is the biggest month to publish.

    Key Takeaways:

    • The middle of the work week is key to video watching. Thursday, and then Wednesday, is the highest day of the week.
    • Many business viewing audiences prefer watching a webinar over other video formats.
    • Shorter content is more appealing, with 2-minute or less videos being preferred.

The first method is to use Acrobat PRO: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/adding-multimedia-pdfs.html. Some people may like to start with the use of a Word Document, yet ultimately one may need to use Acrobat’s rich media tools to add the media file or video in the PDF file.

The second method is to use Google docs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6M8WSTkEns. However, this normally works with YouTube videos only.

If you are not lucky enough to make use of both methods above, you may try the alternative suggestion of uploading the video on an online service and leaving a link to the video on your PDF file: https://wordribbon.tips.net/T007888_Embedded_MP4_Files_in_a_PDF_Document.html

  • Need for Electronic Security Systems for Small Business

Is your business booming lately? That might not be for long. When people discover that you’re making a lot of money, you’ll be attracting some unwanted attention too. It might be time to take a look at your security measures.

Here are a few reasons why you should invest in your business’s electronic security system.

    Prevents Robberies and Provides Evidence

Estimates say that there are around 2.5 million burglary cases each year. More than 65 percent of those are home thefts. That means the remaining 35 include business robberies. That’s about 875,000. Yours could potentially be one of them.

You can significantly lower your business’s risk of getting robbed with the presence of even just an alarm system or CCTVs. You can boost that even further by installing an access control system, whether it be number pads or biometrics. 3 out of 5 burglars won’t bother trying to steal from a business if they see that a security system has been installed.

And in case your business does get robbed, it’ll be easier for law enforcement to track the criminals down if you can give them video footage from the security cameras. You’ll also have a more accurate account of what’s been stolen from your establishment or if your employees have been hurt in the incident.

    Documents Employee-Customer Interactions

Security systems can help you observe how your employees interact with customers and vice versa. This can be helpful if ever an issue escalates since you have proof on which party is at fault. While protecting your employees is important, surveillance footage provides you with an opportunity to improve how your business does customer service.

    Discourages Employees from Committing Crime

Did you know that workplace crimes have cost US businesses around $50 billion every year? Even just the small act of skimming cash from the register can lose your business hundreds if not thousands of dollars in the long run.

It’s always nice to have employees that you can trust. However, though they might help deter people from stealing from your business, some of your staff may be thieves themselves too. If you feel that something’s amiss in the workplace, you can simply review previous footages or see if there are any discrepancies in the attendance monitoring system logs.

    Tracks Company Assets

If your business has a small fleet of service vehicles, using dash cams and GPS tracker system can help you monitor their location and activities during work hours. You’ll also be able to track down ones that are lost or stolen.

GPS can also boost your business’s efficiency too. It can assist your company’s drivers to find alternate routes and reach their destination much faster, saving you precious time.

    Lowers Your Insurance Rate

Another bonus of installing a security system for your business is that you can save money on insurance. You can’t ask for a safety discount on your insurance premiums if you don’t have a decent security system. This is because your business will be considered a high-risk one.

Of course, there are other factors that contribute to your chances of getting insurance discounts. Aside from a security system, you’ll have a better shot if your establishment is located in a decent area, is clean, and doesn’t pose any safety hazards to employees and customers.

Having your own electronic security system is an important matter no matter how small your business may be. It assures customers that your business is a safe one, and your employees will feel more secure at work. If you’d like tailor-made solutions for your company, always feel free to get in touch with a certified local security system provider.

  • GCash Cash-out Issue

Today, I cashed in from Paypal to GCash without any issue. However, when I cashed out, I did not receive the money. The reason for using GCash is its real-time feature.

I heard last month that someone lost her money in GCash. It seemed to be an unauthorized purchase or an unauthorized withdrawal. (I think it was posted on Facebook claiming that there was no action from GCash support.) I never really bothered because all the while all my transactions were doing great until today.

With this experience, my initial reaction is to refrain from using GCash.

On second thought, I’d like to see how they respond to such issues.

My 1st purpose for writing this is to tell my loved ones, friends, and readers about this experience so they can weigh things for themselves.

My 2nd purpose is to document the course of action and promptness of GCash’s support.

Note that the real-time feature of GCash is what makes it a BIG plus. For Paypal to have your withdrawal in real-time, I think you get to pay P500 pesos for that.

With this incident, perhaps it is better to pay P500 in Paypal. I have been using Paypal for more than 10 years and I never have this issue.

I already filed a ticket to GCash support and the agent had to escalate it. For the turnaround, she could not promise anything. I hope action will be taken promptly. This is where I created the ticket using its LIVE chat support: https://help.gcash.com/hc/en-us/categories/360001959874-Cash-in-Cash-out-#Cash-out

I will update this post of GCash’s action and promptness; this way I can also be fair to GCash’s support instead of just ranting my complaint.

    Update:

I receive a confirmation ticket of my concern via email through GCash Help Center after 20 minutes from the time I made the LIVE chat support. (2020 February 14, 7:20AM)

I got the money back the following day in my GCash account on February 15, 2020, at around 2:19 PM.

Thank you for the GCash support.

So I guess I can still continue using GCash then. Yet this time, I might need to do an initial transaction in a small amount.

What is your experience with GCash? Leave your feedback below.

As you can see, it is the mobile result that is significantly affected regardless if I installed Google Analytics or not.

My humble conclusion: Google Adsense affects mobile page speed.

With Nitropack, I really don’t think this would be a problem anymore (updated 2020 11 19). Read Google Adsense and Nitropack at Nitropack Review: Does it Really Work?

I have used Nitropack in late October of 2020 and so far I am pretty amazed at what it can do.

Note: I am removing Google Adsense after this test. I think I better focus on affiliate links, and other income streams to replace Adsense.

  • Does Google Analytics Affect Your Site’s Google’s PageSpeed Insights Score?

Does Google Analytics Affect Your Site’s Google’s PageSpeed Insights Score?

I personally love to speed up my site (that is to optimize the page speed or load time of my site). There are 2 reasons why I am a bit obsessed with it:

    • It is because it is great for the users’ experience; and
    • It is because it is a Google ranking factor.

Because of the 2nd reason, I am using Google PageSpeed Insights to have a perspective of how Google views my site’s page speed

Below are my results before I added Google Analytics on my site.

    Mobile PageSpeed Insights Result

Below are my results after I added Google Analytics on my site.

    Mobile PageSpeed Insights Result

    image 2 9

    Desktop PageSpeed Insights Result

    image 3 10

The short answer is No, Google Analytics does not affect the Google’s PageSpeed Insights Score.

With the above results, there is hardly a difference in the PageSpeed Insights Score.

As you can see, the mobile score dropped after installing Google Analytics; while the desktop score rises.

I don’t want to make any conclusions here as long as I get a green result out of it (or a score of 90 and above).

If ever you did a test yourself and got a different outcome where in installing Google Analytics has slowed down your site or dropped your Google PageSpeed Insights score — kindly let me know.

By the way, remove the Google Adsense installation before doing the test. It actually drops by score significantly during my tests. Check it out here: Google Adsense Installation Slows Down My Site or Drops My Google PageSpeed Insights Score Significantly

  • 7 Positive Impacts of Technology on Today’s Society

7 Positive Impacts of Technology on Today’s Society

There is no doubt that technology has completely changed how humanity lived and functions. From doing a business meeting with people spread around the world to instructions on how to buy twitter followers, there are thousands of different ways how technology has helped society. Below are the top 7 impacts technology has on society.

    1. Effective transportation

Imagine a world without cars. Without a doubt, the invention of automobiles is among those inventions that completely change the direction and future of human society. It has greatly helped in connecting people closer together not to mention contributing to the development of many other technologies. Delivery of crucial goods relies so much on vehicle transportation. Towns and cities grew larger thanks in part to these wheeled machines.

    2. Faster communication

A hundred years ago, you had to spend weeks or months waiting to hear back from a friend or loved one when they live far off. Now, we are able to send messages and place calls on just about anyone around the globe and get an instant reply. Forming and maintaining a relationship despite the distance is not only easier but quite common. The lightning speed that we experience now has also given people the freedom to work outside of the office environment and work remotely.

    3. Goods and services are better

It is a psychological fact that people behave better when they are aware that they are being watched. The same goes for the goods and services that we constantly use daily. Because almost every customer has a mobile phone that connects to the internet, every business owner makes sure that they are delivering quality customer service as well as quality goods lest customers post a negative review about their business. If customers are treated badly or find the store to be in poor condition, they can post such reviews in the likes of Yelp or Google Review for others to see.

    4. Streamlined manufacturing

Think about getting a cup of coffee in the morning back in the early 1900s when beans had to be harvested by hand and roasted manually. It used to take a really long time to transform those beans into a good cup of coffee. Now, that whole process has been streamlined and sped up by a factor of a hundred. The moment a product is designed to it being on the shelves of stores is almost a feat of technological marvel where each step along the way is a perfectly oiled machine that seldom breaks.

    5. Exchanges are meaningful

When the IT industry rose, it completely changed how society operated. Now, people can connect with friends and family no matter the distance and have meaningful conversations. Even establishing exchanged with strangers online is doable and very common. It has opened the minds of people from different perspectives about a lot of things. The cultural barrier that used to divide people is slowly being taken down as the internet grows bigger and bigger.

    6. Longevity

People used to say that people back in the Middle Ages only lived until the ripe old age of 35. That’s because most of the population had no access to medicine and healthcare. That is certainly not the case now. Advances in science and technology have allowed the medicine to treat complicated diseases that used to be incurable a couple of decades ago. Drugs are constantly being developed for various illnesses. All this has the effect of people reaching older ages.

    7. Better media

Satellite systems and telecommunications infrastructure gave rise to better media coverage. People could see, in real-time or close to it, what’s happening around the world. From politics to entertainment, humanity can be kept up to speed almost as fast as they can do a Google search.

  • 7 Deadly Mistakes That Will Make Your Business Fail

7 Deadly Mistakes That Will Make Your Business Fail

Have you noticed that some popular businesses years ago disappeared suddenly? Do you recall some of the recently launched businesses with great potentials that did not survive even a year or two? What could have happened to these businesses? What made them fail? Let’s take a look at the 7 most common and deadliest mistakes in running a business that companies commit to make them fail.

    Reluctance to Change

The main culprit to an unsuccessful business is reluctance to change.According to Brian Tracy, a motivational speaker and author, you have to be flexible to survive and grow.He said that the mistake of those companies that fail is that they are not changing to the new realities and they just keep on doing what they have been doing. He suggests that you imagine everything in your office has been burnt, but you still have your people and a space to start over. What products and services would you offer now? Try to let go of those that make up a big part of your expenses or consume much of your time, but only contribute very little to your revenues.Instead, focus on the more productive ones.Another way is to look at your target market and find out what they are up to.See if your products or services can still satisfy their needs or wants. If not, it’s probably time to make that change.

    Poor Marketing Strategies

Even if you have a great product or service, but nobody knows about it or you don’t know of ways to promote it, you will never succeed. You need to have cost-effective marketing strategies that will help promote your business and generate more leads. These include utilizing online ads, print ads, e-mail marketing and having a website.

    Bad Management

A business that is not properly managed is bound to fail.& Managing your business well means possessing the qualities of a good leader that will guide the team.Bigger companies need to have managers and supervisors who are competent in their position, be it in production, finance, purchasing, selling, and human resources. If you are starting a small business, you have to know the business you are into, so you can manage it well. You have to treat your people well to earn their respect and cooperation and eventually achieve your goals.

    Bad Location

In many cases, businesses fail because of bad location. As part of your research before launching your business, you have to choose an area where there’s considerable foot traffic for your business to survive and earn profits. You also need to ask questions like the following:Does this place have some future plans of development , which will eventually make my business more successful? Is this place safe and secure with ample parking space for my customers? Is it accessible for my target market? Is this area easily affected by flood and power outages, which of course affect my business? If you have answers to these questions, then you will know if you have a good spot for your business to grow.

    Arrogance and Poor Customer Service

Some businesses may have maintained the quality of their products, but their service is not good enough. What will happen to this type of business is that when a competitor with the same quality of products serves their customers way better than they do and adopts to the needs of their customers faster than they do, that competitor will surely steal their customers and kill their business. If you want your business to survive despite tight competition, you have to give importance to your customers and be humble enough to recognize that you need to do more for them aside from improving the quality of your products and services.

    Lack of Determination

Many small businesses fail because they lack the will and determination to continue their business despite obstacles. If you give up too easily, you will never get to where you ought to be. A business can sometimes take a year or two for you to start getting returns. Think of long-term results rather than short-term.To give you some inspiration, look at great businessmen and companies today that have started small and have been through really tough times, but have emerged triumphant.&Great examples are Henry Sy of SM, as well as the National Bookstore. Both surpassed the difficulties of World War II and other unique problems.

No Extra Funds for Tough Times

Just like us individuals, your business also needs to save for the rainy days in order for it to survive when the going gets tough. You need to have extra funds just in case a big client suddenly pulls out his account or when the whole country gets affected by economic crisis, for example, and you need to fix things. When you don’t have enough money to cover for your operations during these tough times, you might not be able to go back up again.

Making at least one of these mistakes can cause your business to fail, so make sure you try to manage whatever lapse you have as soon as possible.Don’t wait for things to get worse. If you want your business to succeed, the best time to start fixing things is now.

  • Page Speed is as important as your Content and Links

Page Speed is as important as your Content and Links

This is just a quick note before I take leave for the weekend.

We’ve all heard that (Quality) Content and (Good) Links are two of the most important factors for your site to rank, especially in Google.

Here is a 3rd factor I’d like to emphasize. Most SEO specialists know this; yet often times leave this to the developer.

And that is the Page Speed.

What good are the contents and links (of your site) if every visitor ends up leaving the site because of a very slow page speed or very poor load time.

Page Speed is more likely as important as high-quality contents to keep your site’s visitors as well as a page rank factor like good links.

Therefore, page speed is not just important for SEO; it is very important for your site’s direct users/visitors.

You can test your page speed on Google Page Speed Insights.

Just a quick thought for my readers before we end this week.

Hopefully, I can write more on this subject in the future.

Here is a link on how to speed up your WordPress site.

Lastly, I got something just to spark some thoughts:

Comparing SEO to the game of chess — if the content is indeed the king, then your queen is your backlinks. Then what is your site speed?

  • Shopify Theme Customization to Increase Sales and Conversion

Do you want to increase the sales and conversion of your Shopify store?

Perhaps, the answer should be obvious since this is the basically the reason why you chose Shopify as a platform; that is to SELL. And if you are already making sales, then your next goal is to increase your sales and conversion exponentially.

This is also one of the reasons why Shopify theme owners are looking for theme customization. Shopify store owners are hoping to standout from the rest of the Shopify stores and other competitors as well using different ecommerce platforms.

Aside from just customizing your theme for aesthetic reasons, the most crucial factor would be to decide on what features to add into your store. These can be features (to name a few) like GEO-IP Recognition, Conversion-Optimized Header Area and Value Proposition features, Shipping Time Estimator, Currency Switcher, Marketing Integrations, and many more.

So how can you customize your Shopify theme?

    1. First and foremost, it is always wise to choose a theme that closely defines the look and feel of what you have in mind. Then customize the theme of your Shopify store from the admin area using the theme editor. You can read more about it here: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/using-themes/change-the-layout/documentation
    2. There are limitations with how you can edit certain themes via the theme editor. So if you are comfortable with HTML, CSS, and Liquid — then you can go ahead and edit your theme code: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/using-themes/change-the-layout/theme-code
    3. You may also hire a Shopify expert or developer to achieve the customization or look and feel that you really wanted.
    4. Another approach is to go for the smart approach, instead of the clever approach of editing the theme code yourself. This is specially true if you plan to customize quite a number of areas (not just the look and feel). The smart approach is to make use of a premium theme. One premium Shopify theme that is worth checking is Shoptimized Shopify theme. It has over 400 customization options to choose from; you can also make use of the preconfigured settings. Shoptimized has also 29 boosting conversion features integrated with the theme to increase your sales/conversion.

How to Speed Up WordPress Site

This is just an outline of how to speed up your WordPress site.

Note: Most of the content may still be true. However, I decided to go for the more efficient and more effective way. That is using Nitropack. Read Nitropack Review: Does it Really Work?

Our website is currently using GeneratePress WordPress theme and so far we are very pleased with it. It is lightweight and works pretty well with Nitropack.

    Find an excellent web host.

No matter what you do or what plugins you have, if your web host’s performance is poor, you would likely get what you paid for.

These are the web hosts I recommend as per our experience:

    • MediaServe (We are very new to this web host company. However, of all that we’ve tried, this is top-notch. It is supported by a biblically minded family company in business since 1999. Therefore, you are dealing with the business owner and support is great.)
    • Siteground.com
    • GreenGeeks.com for an eco-friendly website; it’s 300% green. (If you want to do something to the environment, use GreenGeeks.)
    • Servint.net

Use a clean WP Theme, Frameworks, or a Boilerplate

In the past, I have been using the StudioPress themes (a.k.a Genesis Framework). They are beautiful themes and coded very well.

Recently, because I am more obsessed with PageSpeed Insights Score without the need of spending more money for customized solutions, I begin using HTML5Blank: An open-source boilerplate theme for WordPress and I am very pleased with the result.

    Desktop PageSpeed Insights Score

Just to set expectations, sometimes for some reason, my PageSpeed Insights score varies. However, I have noted that the PageSpeed Insights scores are always above 90.

Some things you can do in your WP-Config file:

    # Disables all core updates. Added by BrodNeil
    define( 'WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE', false );

Add the line above to disable all core updates.

    # Empty trash after 7 days. Added by BrodNeil:
    define( 'EMPTY_TRASH_DAYS', 7 );

Add the line above to empty trash after 7 days. You can change the value of 7 to 3, that is if you want to empty the trash after 3 days.

    # Limit post revisions to 3 by BrodNeil:
    define( 'WP_POST_REVISIONS', 3 );

Add the line above to limit the post revisions being saved to 3. I think the default is unlimited.

Note that the Added by BrodNeil can be replaced by your name. This just helps me who added the line in our team.

    Apply GZIP Compression.

Go to your CPANEL, and look for Optimize Website.

Enable Compress Content > Compress All Content by clicking Update Settings.

    Enable GZIP compression by brodneil.com

Have the latest or the recommended PHP version.

    Go to your CPANEL.

Look for Select PHP Version or something similar like PHP configuration.

Make sure your plugins can work well with the version you are trying to activate.

    Activate Cloudflare.

    Go to your CPANEL.

    Look for Cloudflare.

Use the FULL set up. You can find instructions in how to set up Cloudflare either from your web host or Cloudflare itself.

    Install and activate these plugins:

    WP-Optimize

This plugin helps you clean up your database easily without you going through the manual queries. If you are not familiar with how you can find the database, then having the plugin is much safer and easier.

    P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler)

Directly, this plugin will not help in speeding up your site’s performance. However, this plugin allows you to check which plugins are slowing down the site. Helping you to take a better-informed decision.

    SG Optimizer

SG Optimizer is one of the best easy-to-use performance plugin. It works perfectly well for websites hosted in SiteGround. SG Optimizer is built by SiteGround. SG Optimizer handles caching, system settings, and all the necessary configurations for a blazing-fast website including image optimization.

    Autoptimize

Like many other plugins, Autoptimize speeds up your website by optimizing JS, CSS, HTML, Google Fonts and images, async-ing JS, and more. Among the plugins we’ve tried, Autoptimize is best in resolving the Eliminate render-blocking resources in Google PageSpeed Insights.

    Inline Critical CSS

What is inlining the critical CSS?

By reducing the amount of CSS the browser has to go through, and by inlining what is considered as the priority CSS (critical CSS) on the page, we can reduce the number of HTTP request and get the page to render much faster.

    1. Open your homepage.

    2. Right+click and select View page Source.

    3. Look for your CSS file media=all and click to open it.

    4. Copy-page the CSS entries on this Critical Path CSS generator by https://jonassebastianohlsson.com/criticalpathcssgenerator/

    5. Tweak as needed.

    6. Copy-paste the result on your Autoptimize plugin > JS, CSS, & HTML > CSS Options > Inline and Defer CSS.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-9-700x296.png

If you want to fully automate the inlining of critical CSS on different types of pages. You can use another plugin for it unless you want to do it manually.

    image 10 13

    7. Click Save Changes and Empty Cache.

    Async Javascript

Async Javascript lets you add ‘async’ or ‘defer’ attribute to scripts to exclude. Use this with Autoptimize; it’s a perfect match.

    WebP Express EWWW Image Optimizer

    Optimize images.

Serves autogenerated WebP images instead of jpeg/png to browsers that support WebP. Works on anything (media library images, galleries, theme images etc).

    Lazyloads your images.

    Enable Hotlink Protection.

Go to your CPANEL and look for Hotlink Protection.

It prevents other websites from directly linking to files on your website. Therefore, the other sites may seem-like stealing your bandwidth. An example of hotlinking would be using a <img> tag to display an image from your site somewhere else on the net.

    Enable it.

I did everything I mentioned above and was still not satisfied with the result. Simply because my benchmark for the loadtime or speed is that of an HTML static site.

Late June 2019, I decided to test Google Cloud Compute Engine and was quite happy with the result. The issues I had was that

    • Google support was a bit expensive for small businesses, and
    • free support from community or forum may never come or too technical for an average webmaster.

See the Google PageSpeed Insights result below:

    Google pagespeed insights WP mobile
    Google pagespeed insights WP desktop

After months of testing, I decided to move back out of the Google Cloud Console. There was a bit of learning curve, and I don’t have the time to learn them all.

Fortunately, the HTML5Blank boilerplate has really helped me a lot speed up my WordPress site.

One thing though to remember with HTML5Blank, you need to have a good understanding of HTML and CSS to use it.

  • Images Not Showing in WordPress

    Scenario:

    • Images are not showing in images.
    • But the path to the images via WP are correct.
    • Database path as well are correct.
    • Changing the theme does not help fix the issue.
    • Disabling all the plugin does not help as well in fixing the issue.
    • Upgrading the PHP was of not use.
    • Upgrading WP core and WP plugins are not much of help.

For some reasons I could not understand yet:

    • Activating Jetpack and enabling the features under Performance & Speed in Jetpack resolved the issue.
  • How To Transfer a Google Doc to a User with a Different Domain

Google does not allow the transfer of ownership of your Google doc, Google sheet, or Google form to a user with a different domain.

Example: user@brodneil.com cannot transfer ownership to user@gmail.com because brodneil.com and gmail.com are two different domains.

Here is a workaround and hopefully it will still be working by the time you are reading this post:

    1. Share your file (Google doc, Google sheet, or Google form) to the intended user with Edit capabilities or as Editor.

      Ex. user@brodneil.com shares a file called file1 to user@gmail.com.

    2. Ask that user to copy the file you shared in Google drive as a different file.

Ex. user@gmail.com opens Google Drive and copies file1. And thus you will have two copies after, file1 and copy of file1, in Google drive after.

    3. Rename the copied file (optional)

Ex. copy of file1 is renamed to file2.

    4. Open file2 and check the ownership under settings.

Ex. Owner of file1 is user@brodneil.com, but the owner of the copied file, file2, is user@gmail.com

    5. You can share the new (copied) file to the previous owner if you still want to give that user an editing or viewing access(optional)

Ex. Share file2 to the previous owner, user@brodneil.com.

    The outcome would then be:

    • File1
      • Owner: user@brodneil.com
      • Editor: user@gmail.com
    • File2
      • Owner: user@gmail.com
      • Editor: user@brodneil.com

Great Combination in WordPress: Elementor PRO and Anywhere Elementor

Elementor is a great drag-and-drop builder for WordPress.  The Pro version we are using for one of my client sites has a global section for widgets and sections.  However, it does not have a global feature for the header, footer, sidebar, and the like.  To augment it, we use AE templates or Anywhere Elementor templates to create a global header, global footer, global sidebar, and global 404 page.  Anywhere Elementor allows you to easily use the template to your PHP files like the header, footer, sidebar, and 404 php files.

  • Traffic Is Not a Google Ranking Factor

Traffic Is Not a Google Ranking Factor

We all must have heard that traffic is a Google ranking factor, right?

How about sending lots of traffic via Bloglovin or NetWorkedBlogs (discontinued), would that count as a Google ranking factor?

As to the value of the sites mentioned in terms of helping in the Google ranking, we can’t tell.  An experiment should be made to make such conclusion.

How about buying traffic from other websites, would that count as a factor?  Again, we can’t tell.

    Traffic Jam
    By: Alex Graves

Is not traffic a Google ranking factor?

Traffic is not a Google ranking factor when we spam our site(s) with traffic resulting to very high bounce rate.

When can traffic be a Google ranking factor?

Traffic must be a high-quality traffic.  High-quality traffic is that which has a very high-quality user engagement most probably because of high-quality content resulting to a low bounce rate.

High-quality traffic does not just give you a better or higher search engine ranking in Google.  It’s the reason why you want to rank in the first place.

Top 1 in SERPs vs High-quality Traffic

Therefore if you are already getting high-quality traffic from somewhere else, it is even better than ranking top 1 in the SERPs (that is the Search Engine Results Pages).  Getting your keywords top 1 in the SERPS does not guarantee traffic (much so for high-quality traffic) especially if you are targeting the wrong keywords.

This is the reason why I always want to test a keyword via paid search, before trying to spend so much resources like time and money on SEO and promotion.

With a good budget for testing, we can already tell if the keyword can bring in the quality (of traffic) we are hoping for and test if the landing page can convert.  If the result is positive, then we can proceed to promotion and SEO.

    Conclusion

We want our keywords to rank in the SERPs because we want to get high-quality traffic, high-quality user engagement, and ultimately conversion or sales.  Therefore keyword rankings are absolutely not enough.  They are just metrics to help out your conversion analysis.

Moving forward, let us set our minds in writing high-quality content, initiating high-quality user engagement, and attracting high-quality traffic.

Surprise to stare on a white blank screen when you’re logged out of your WP site, while everything looks fine when you’re logged in?

    1. Go to your wp-config.php.
    2. Look for the line below:
      • define( 'WP_DEBUG', false )
    3. Replace false with true.
      • define( 'WP_DEBUG', true )
    4. Add the following line:
      • error_reporting(E_ALL); ini_set('display_errors', 1);
    5. Then click save.
    6. Go and check out your WP Site; you should see the errors displayed.
      • Normally, errors are because of incompatible plugins or obsolete themes that need update.
    7. Note that this method is only good when you are using a staging environment for your WP site.  It does not look good to your site’s visitors in you do this on a LIVE site.  This is why I use SiteGround because of its easy-to-create staging feature.

    Line of Code:

    error_reporting(E_ALL); ini_set('display_errors', 1);
    // Enable WP_DEBUG mode
    define( 'WP_DEBUG', true )

  • Is IP Canonicalization Important for SEO?

Is IP Canonicalization Important for SEO?

    What is an IP?

An IP address is unique identifier/locator  designed to allow one computer or digital device to communicate with another computer or digital device. Communication is done via the Internet.

IP stands for Internet Protocol and computers have IP addresses to communicate with each other over the Internet.  Therefore an IP address can mean Internet Protocol address.

    What is Canonicalization?

Canonicalization is the process  of selecting a website url for you to use.

Examples of URLs on this domain:

Canonicalization helps your your browser choose which URL to use.

We decided to use https://www.brodneil.com for this domain.

    What is an IP Canonicalization?

This is the process of redirecting your IP address to the main domain name it is being hosted.  Note that this is particularly for dedicated IP addresses, not shared IP addresses, of your website.

Is IP Canonicalization important for SEO?

There are quite a number of SEO specialists and SEO software that takes IP canonicalization as a very important factor in SEO.

Let me make it clear that I value URL canonicalization for SEO. See Canonical Tags: https://moz.com/learn/seo/canonicalization

However, for IP canonicalization, this might not make a lot of difference.  If you want to set it, you can do it though.

One reason they are setting IP canonicalization is to avoid duplicate content. Let us remember though that Your IP address is a unique locator and your website needs it for it to be located.  Here is a good read for you to ponder: https://moz.com/community/q/how-to-do-ip-canonicalization.

Nevertheless, if you really like to set it up, you might find this helpful:

Canonicalize Your IP Address: How to set it up?

    1. Open and edit your .htaccess file.  This can be done via FTP or CPanel > file manager .
    2. Make sure to back up before you edit your .htaccess.
    3. Use the code below these steps to set your IP canonicalization.
    4. Replace xxx\.xxx\.xxx\.xxx with your website’s dedicated IP address.
    5. Replace example.com with your actual domain name.

    Code:
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^xxx\.xxx\.xxx\.xxx [nc,or]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example\.com [nc]
    RewriteRule (.*) https://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]
